Project : Grumpy Bear Ukulele
I’m slowly progressing with a side quest – making 2 Ukuleles. One is this one; Grumpy Bear. The other is (at this point) going to be Beavis and Butthead.
They’re just cheap little Ukulele kits and it’s likely I’ll be making a couple of small changes to improve them; for instance, I don’t like the body string holders – They’re bulky and will cover part of the pictures, so I’ll be redesigning them and printing them in transparent resin.
Also, the fretboards are nasty, one piece plastic things – I fancy making them nice wooden affairs with real frets. That’ll be a fun job on the CNC.

I’ll admit I had a little help from Monday in creating the image. I then scanned the painted body into Photoshop for an accurate outline and refined the picture a little to fit and shape it.
The Cricut Maker 3 cut the image out onto sticker paper. Same procedure with the headstock image.
The headstock has already had its coats of varnish, I’ll spray the body later today – after that will be the new fretboard which will take a little bit more design work, but should be an easy(ish) job using the image / PCB / CNC controller program I’ve written. That program is worthy of a page itself,
That’s it for now, take care!
